Angel Tree

Afterwards...

THANK YOU for making our second annual Puppy Angel tree a huge success!! Partnership collected four truckloads full of food, toys, beds, chews, treats, brushes, leashes, collars, kitty litter, boxes, and other supplies to some of Chattanooga's most-loved dogs and cats needing some extra tidings of comfort and joy. What an awesome response! Thanks for the donations, and for your creative and loving flair. Thanks to the folks at Partnership for organizing the effort, picking up the goodies, and coordinating with the caseworkers who ultimately delivered your gifts to those who really needed a helping hand. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to contribute in a way that made a real difference to people and their pets during the holidays. Thanks for caring, and for giving, and for doing. WOW!!!

The Angel Tree is a terrific way to help someone who needs assistance providing for their pet this holiday season. We are working with Partnership for Families, Children, and Adults to reach out to these neighbors in Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Northwest Georgia, and Northeast Alabama. Here's how it works:
Come to PDX to pick up an angel card [Directions] - OR - select one of the virtual cards below.
Collect whatever supplies are appropriate to the pet(s) on the card and the situation. Supplies should be boxed or bagged, and tagged either with the number indicated on the card. If you have multiple packages, please make sure each is tagged. Please make sure that contributions are safely packaged for transport and easy to identify. Please do not purchase bags larger than 20 pounds, as many of the recipients are elderly and cannot lift large packages.
Bring your package to PDX before December 22nd. We will transport all of the packages to Partnership so that they distribute them before Christmas.

We are very grateful for the enthusiasm and outpouring of concern that came from the Chattanooga Times Press Press article on November 27th last year, and also from our daycare and training clients who saw the tree in the lobby and wanted to help out. What a terrific way to share your love of animals and concern for the community.

#1: Mary, age 62, is a recent widow. She has one medium-sized mixed breed dog named Tootsie, who is great company. Tootsie prefers Purina Beneful and Milk-Bones. She would like to have a retractable leash.

#2: Edna, age 74, has a Golden Retriever named Max. Max is very friendly and loves company. He is very protective of Edna. Max prefers Pedigree dry or in a pouch with gravy. He loves squeaky toys. Edna would like to have a retractable leash.

#3: Mr. & Mrs. Jones, age60 and 65, own 3 dogs and 4 cats who live both inside and out. The couple have very low income and often experience difficulty having enough money to feed their pets. They would love to have any dry dog and cat foods, dog biscuits, and cat toys.

#4: Joyce is a 52-year-old woman who is recovering from a broken back. She and her husband share their home with Tip, an 8-year-old Australian Shepherd. Tip is a part of the family; he and Joyce often watch television together. Tip could use some Purina Dog Chow, a large dog bed, or a tug toy.

#5: Karen is 48-years old and suffers from diabetes and depression. She shares her home with a 5-year-old German Shepherd Dog. Karen lives alone in a rural area, and feels safe with her dog protecting their home. She could use some cedar chips for the dog bed, Pedigree dog food, and a large dog house.

#6: Shirley is 70 years old, and very frail and weak. She shares her home with 3 cats that appeared on her doorstep 3 years ago. Shirley says that she does not own these cats, but that they have made a special arrangement: she feeds them and they listen to her stories. The cats could use some Fancy Feast, flea collars, and litter boxes.

#7: James and his wife are an elderly couple who have four cats that they love dearly: Zo, Dumpling, Minnie, and Scooter. They live on a fixed income, which often doesn’t leave enough to purchase food for their beloved pets. They could really use any donated cat food, but would prefer Friskies, and a new litter box.

#8: Louise is an elderly woman with 2 dogs: Lonnie (part German Shepherd) and Splinter (Beagle mix). Louise also has a cat named Suzy, who recently had kittens. Louise would greatly appreciate donations of food: Purina for Lonnie and Splinter an 9 Lives for the cats.

#9: Dorothy is an elderly woman who lives on a fixed budget. She has three cats: Josh, Sweetie Pie, and Petie. Any donated cat food would make this Christmas especially special and memorable. The cats prefer 9 Live, and could use a new litter box.

#10: Carolyn is an elderly woman who has 2 dogs, Chocolate and Petie, and a cat named Peaches. Carolyn has only a limited income, and would greatly appreciate any contributions for her pets. The dogs and cat both eat Iams, and Peaches could use a new large litter box.

#11: Barbara is an elderly woman living on a fixed income with very high medical expenses. Her Chihuahua, Bam-Bam, is very dear to her. Barbara would be very grateful for any dog food that she could receive for her beloved companion.

#12: Joan is a frail woman who has several cats. She has limited funds, and therefore would be thankful for any cat food that could be donated for her pets. The cats prefer Friskies (dry or wet), and would be happy for a toy mouse or ball.

#13: Glenna has a severe mental illness and numerous health problems. She is very attached to her dog, Scooter, who brings her comfort and companionship. She lives on a fixed income, and could really benefit from any donations of dog food to help her take care of her friend. Scooter prefers Puppy Chow and Milk Bones.

#14: Marie is an elderly woman with numerous health problems living on a fixed income. Her dog, Buster, is very special to her. Marie would be very grateful for any donated dog food that would assist her with feeding Buster.

#15: JC is an elderly man living on a limited income. He has a dog named Baby, who is like a member of his family. JC would be very grateful for any donated dog food that he could receive for Baby.
